Why the Self Service Excellence Awards were established:
KioskCom launched the inaugural industry-wide Self-Service Excellence Awards in 2002 to honor the most successful and innovative self-service and interactive digital media solutions. Over the years, KioskCom has honored over 200 companies across multiple industries for their leadership, innovations, and successes with self-service and interactive digital media solutions.
The Self Service Excellence Awards is unique in that this contest has always had a core focus on the success of the self-service and interactive digital media solution based on the measurements set forth by the deploying organization, and not just the technology suppliers. Past winners honored include: BMW, SONY, Foxwoods Resort Casino, FedEx, AAA, the US Postal Service, Dave & Busters, Avis, Hilton Hotels, Sunoco, SAS, Daimler Chrysler and ExxonMobil.

Entry Questions:
For all of the categories above you will be asked the following questions related to the self-service and interactive digital media solutions being nominated. Each answer has a 3000 character limit, including spaces.
- Please provide a brief overview of the project/technology that may be used for the awards presentation or promotional purposes - information provided here must be non-confidential.
- Explain the objectives of the deployment or the technology - what problem were you trying to solve and how? Please be specific.
- Provide an in-depth project description including timeframe of the project. You may include information for the judges' consideration that cannot be made public - answers to this question will be viewed by judges and staff only and will not be included in the presentation or promotion of the awards program.
- Please describe the results you achieved with this project, relative to the objectives set forth. Be sure to state how results were measured and provide as much tangible evidence of your results as possible for the judges' consideration.
You will also be asked for the number of units deployed (required) and to indicate those who provided the technologies used (software, hardware, etc. - not required). The answers to these two questions will not be considered by the judges and will in no way affect the scores your entry receives.
VIDEO DEMONSTRATION REQUIRED: All entries will require a video demonstration of the kiosk in use.
As in 2009, finalists will no longer be required to ship kiosks to the KioskCom event in Las Vegas for a 2nd phase of scoring. The video demonstration will ensure that the entire entry process is completed online.
IMPORTANT - Criteria for your video submission are as follows:
Videos must be no more than 5 minutes in length
Videos must be hosted on an external site and must be easily viewable with a standard broadband connection
Videos must start with a wide shot of the kiosk in its natural setting and zoom in for the demonstration.
A person must use the kiosk to demonstrate 3 tasks with a clear view of the screen and actions being taken to complete the tasks. (FOR HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE CATEGORIES ONLY - please demonstrate just one task then open the kiosk and allow the judges to see the inside as part of your video demonstration.)
Narration of what is occurring in the video is acceptable. No promotional narration will be considered.
KioskCom has permission to download and utilize these videos in the awards presentation, on its web site and other promotional purposes relative to the KioskCom awards and conference/trade show.
Videos not adhering to these criteria will result in disqualification of the entry and forfeiture of the entry fee.
This URL must stay active until at least December 31, 2010 — if your entry is a finalist/winner, this URL will be visible on the KioskCom Excellence Awards web site. KioskCom is not responsible for broken links.
Nominate an Industry Deployer of the Year!
The Industry Deployer of the Year will be given to an individual person from a self service technology deployer organization (retail, government, healthcare, casino, hotel, etc.) This award will focus on the strategic role they have played in driving their self service deployment, their vision, innovative programs initiated by the leader and how their results are measured.

Please note: No Fee Required for Kiosk Industry Deployer of the Year Submissions.
Rules and Regulations:
- Applications may be submitted by companies in the private and public sectors as well as technology companies. However, the focus of the program is on how the project was successful for the client, so their input is vital and should be included in the applications.
- After a thorough review of the written applications by the judging panel, finalists for each category will be announced.
- The application scores will count for 60% of the overall score, and video demonstration will count for the remaining 40%. In the past, mere fractions of percentage points have separated winning entries, so please make sure you follow the application, and answer each question completely.
- Awards will be presented for first place in each category. The Self Service Excellence Awards will be announced during the Self Service Excellence Awards Ceremony on April 14, 2010. All KioskCom Self Service Expo attendees are welcome to attend. Please see www.kioskcom.com/register.asp for registration information.
- Winners will be highlighted and promoted at the industry's largest and premiere gathering of self-service and interactive digital media deployers and suppliers, KioskCom & The Digital Signage Show, April 14-15, 2010 at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Additional coverage may also be provided to all awards recipients.
- A portion of the project must have launched between January 1, 2009 and the present, and you must have sufficient results to support the success of the project.
- All entry forms must contain a contact person and their contact information for the client, not just the technology supplier.
- A representative from the deploying organization is encouraged to attend and accept the award should your application be selected.
- KioskCom Self Service Expo reserves the right to move applicants into more appropriate categories upon receipt of application.
Application Deadline:
Applications will be accepted from January 4, 2010 through February 26, 2010. All entries must be received by 11:59 PM EST on February 26, 2010. An application fee of $195 is due per entry.
